Priority improvement of telecommunications in Cuba

The increase in technological infrastructure based on investment plans is a priority to improve the quality of telecommunications services in the country, according to reports today, during an exchange between Mayra Arevich Marín, Minister of Communications, and authorities from the province of Ciego de Avila.

The Minister of Communications emphasized that these projects require financing management that is difficult in the current situation, which prevents progress at a rate higher than previous stages, but there is full awareness of the problems with the quality of services and the will to eradicate them.

In dialogue with authorities, delegates, deputies, specialists and officials of the sector in the Avilanian territory, Arevich Marín offered updated information on the society's computerization program as a guarantee to materialize the National Plan for Economic and Social Development until the year 2030.

He reiterated the willingness to bring communications services to all places where there is a population, which represents a challenge in the current economic circumstances, therefore, alternatives are adopted that allow the needs to be met progressively.

Among the actions carried out to provide services to all popular councils is the relocation of technologies with little use in certain places, which favors Internet connection in less benefited settlements, he said.

There are spaces where people use wireless networks (wifi) little, therefore, it is decided to move the equipment to places where it is difficult to navigate the Network of Networks through mobile data transmission services, he explained.

The head of the telecommunications sector also reported on the process of transition from analog to digital terrestrial television in the western region and specified that these tasks will be extended to the rest of the country to the extent that material conditions exist for the population to access that service.

In the field of electronic commerce, although he acknowledged that much remains to be done, he underlined the progress represented by having the EnZona and Transfermóvil platforms , and the existence of a network of virtual stores, therefore, it only remains to exploit the possibilities it offers for marketers. and consumers.

He emphasized the need to promote this type of sale, which offers entities advantages for internal control and inventories, allows the management of dependents to be measured and reduces the circulation of cash, just to mention some of the most common examples. illustrative.

He exhorted the Party and Government in the Avilanian territory to promote the use of electronic channels, in such a way as to stimulate the preference of consumers for this option of accessing goods and services.

He also referred to the need to achieve more efficient management of citizen portals by increasing online procedures, so that the population perceives these as utilitarian and interactive spaces.

Arevich Marín insisted on the urgency of increasing the culture regarding cybersecurity to ensure the responsible use of new technologies and minimize risks, as well as the relevance of learning to behave in the digital environment, in favor of which the new Family Code in relation to infants.
