Starlink is the company of billionaire Elon Musk that seeks to provide internet to the entire planet with a network of space satellites. A few years ago, it began to expand its service in different regions, with the promise of reaching every corner of our planet. Now, the service arrives in our country officially and with government approval.
This has been shared by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru, granting the company Starlink Peru a unique achievement for the provision of public telecommunications services for a period of 20 years. This means that Elon Musk's satellite internet will be able to officially operate throughout our national territory.
In accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 362-2022-MTC/01.03, Starlink Peru may offer local, national long-distance and international long-distance carrier service in the switched and non-switched mode. This approval already authorizes Starlink to officially start its operations and services in Peru, and can be hired by anyone.
It remains to wait for Starlink Peru to start the sale and promotion of its satellite internet. In the United States, the price of the starter package needed to use Starlink is about $599, including an antenna, while the monthly fee is about $110. At the moment it remains to be seen the prices that the service will have in our country.
