Following the latest major Windows 11 24H2 update, designed to help latecomers get their hands on the latest features offered by the new version of Microsoft's operating system, other features have been added to the new feature included in the app that connects Android phones to your computer: Link to Windows. In this way, the North American company scores another point to show that Windows 11 still has a lot of firepower to give.
Microsoft is already preparing for the arrival of the end of support for Windows 10, where it will stop offering security and stability patches, while also adding a number of conveniences to Windows 11 to improve user control over their computers.
The hardware and software company knows that our mobile phone is our preferred companion wherever we go, and so it hasn't hesitated to pull out all the stops to take advantage of the release of an update for the Link to Windows app, which will give you a remote lock option whenever you step away from your PC at a specific time. Below, we'll tell you how to activate it.
New "Lock your PC" button
Windows Phone Link is the app that connects your Android phone to your PC, allowing you to sync all your data, including photos, SMS messages, apps, calls, and more, or activate your smartphone's camera to use it as a webcam. All of these features are disabled by default, so you'll need to grant the necessary permissions for a better user experience.
Microsoft wants to make its users aware that it's time to upgrade to Windows 11, and to that end, the new feature it has introduced is an improvement that will allow you to remotely lock your computer at any time if you've moved to another location and are not near your room. According to the specialized media Windows Central in a July 23 post, Microsoft has begun rolling out a new "Lock PC" option in version 1.25071.165 or higher of Link to Windows.
Although there's no official announcement on Microsoft channels yet, the feature has been verified and is gradually rolling out to users. When activated, your PC will automatically lock without you having to physically do so. Best of all, it doesn't require a Bluetooth connection and can be activated manually.

The idea of adopting a mobile-related approach is more prevalent than ever, and although Microsoft's app has failed to live up to expectations, it is hoped that this mentality will eventually change completely, leading to a long-term and consistent use of its tool.
The multinational has relied on Android phones as a part of an interconnected ecosystem, just as Apple does with Mac computers, and is willing to continue implementing features that make this method truly practical for daily use without having to constantly rely on having the phone in sight.
