Google wants to protect our devices even more with these two new features

The Fin My Device application, from Google, would be very close to adding two new features that will allow us to further protect our privacy in case we lose any of the devices linked to our account.

During recent years, the main mobile phone manufacturers, as well as the developers of their operating systems, have been including different tools and functionalities that allow us to find our device in case of loss or theft. In this way, in both iOS and Android we have the possibility of being able to locate where it is when we cannot find our terminal, and we suspect that we have lost it in a specific location or it has been stolen. As long as they haven't turned it off.

Now, Google has wanted to go one step further and, as reported by the Phone Arena media outlet, it would be adding two new possibilities in this regard that will allow us to simplify this entire process even more.

Biometric unlock

The first of the novelties would come from the hand of biometric unlocking. Until now, in order to access the information on the devices that are linked to our credentials, it was necessary to enter a username and password; we could not use the rest of the access routes that the rest of the Applications. A situation that could slow down the process and cause the user experience to not be as fluid as it should be.

Now, we have the option, when we enter our password, check the “don't ask again” option. When it is enabled, we would be working on including a second layer of access that allows biometric login every time we want to access the application. Given the development of the app shown by the leaks, it seems that it won't be long before we can start making use of this new possibility.

Biometric unlocking is one of the best options that we can currently find on our mobile devices, since it allows us to maintain the level of security of our smartphone, while offering us the fluidity we need to access our devices.

Remote lock

The second of the new features comes from the remote blocking of our terminals. With this new possibility, whose launch seems not to be as soon as the previous leak, users will be able to lock their terminals by simply entering their phone number and passing a security test.

With this novelty, the aim is to offer Android users a new possibility to be able to block the content of their smartphone when they have lost their terminal and do not remember the password to access their Google account. Once the terminal is found, it can also be unlocked again in a very simple way and recover all its functionalities. Therefore, it will not be necessary to completely delete all its content until we are sure of its loss or theft.

In this second case, as the aforementioned media points out, the function is not as developed as the previous one and it is unknown when it could land on the market. On Google's part, there has not been any information about it either, as is usual until the functions land definitively. So we can only remain attentive to find out what the next steps the company hopes to take in this regard until we know when we could make use of this new function.
