From now on, the Google browser will change forever. More than anything, because two new features have been added with which it is intended to end the different performance problems that have been occurring over the last few years and, also, a tool that will stop Chrome from consuming so much battery on the devices.
To be exact, the two tools that will be added will give you exactly what Google's browser has been needing for a while. Greater optimization so that it does not consume so much battery and, above all, so that it does not devour the resources of the computer's system. Although, keep in mind that they will arrive in the coming weeks for Windows, macOS and ChromeOS.
Lower RAM consumption
As much as there are different methods for Chrome to consume less RAM on a PC, the truth is that with this new tool that comes to the Google browser. More than anything, because as the company itself has reported, by activating the 'Memory Saver' function, the impact of Chrome on RAM memory will be reduced by 30%.
Specifically, by activating this tool it is possible to free memory from those tabs that we have open in the browser that we are not using at that very moment. In this way, those tabs that we are using will have priority. So the performance of Chrome will be greatly improved.
However, it is not a function that will always be active in the browser, but we must enable it ourselves. Although, it is very simple, since you only have to activate it through a button that will appear in the right corner of the address bar. As we can see in the previous image. This results in “Chrome using up to 40% and 10GB less memory”, as Google claims.
Energy save mode
Although, this new mode is not the only one that comes with this update. Google Chrome for Windows and macOS, version 108, also includes a Power Saver tool. In this way, the browser finally addresses the problem of high battery consumption in laptops. Although, it also influences that it consumes a lot of PC resources.
In any case, with this new tool that comes to the Google browser, it is possible to extend the battery life. Therefore, when we are in Chrome and the battery level of the laptop reaches 20%, we can save power by turning on this feature. With this, it is possible to limit the background activity and the visual effects (animations and videos of the websites) so that it does not consume so much battery.
Although, if you prefer, you can have this new functionality active at all times. However, we can configure it so that it is enabled by itself when the PC has a 20% battery or when the equipment is disconnected from the current. If you want to see this function, you will have to go to Settings, tap on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner, tap on Performance and Power saving. There you will also find the Memory Saver option.
